AFT Resolution
PRE-SCHOOL PROGRAMS
WHEREAS, working parents in health care facilities and schools sometimes have difficulty maintaining employment due to inadequate provisions for child care; and
WHEREAS, working parents need to be assured that their children will be receiving care which will foster a learning atmosphere, promote interaction with their peers by the nurturing of developmental skills; and
WHEREAS, for parents who want to achieve their professional potential adequate pre-school programs may help the problem of retention and recruitment in health care facilities:
RESOLVED, that the AFT will support legislation which will help establish pre-school programs in the public schools and health care institutions for the children of working parents.
