PROTEST BOSTON TEACHER LAYOFFS

The situation in Boston needs our attention. It is very important that we who are assembled here in convention call upon the Mayor and the City Council of this city to fully fund education.

The children of Boston deserve the best education that they can receive. There should be no layoffs in education at this time. We also regret the fact that a number of teachers were scheduled for layoff along racial lines.

Therefore, this convention unanimously supports a protest on Thursday during the lunch recess to picket City Hall in behalf of the restoration of the jobs of all the teachers in Boston who have been laid off, and that the Boston Teachers Union join with us in that effort.
