AFT Resolution

HUMAN RIGHTS

WHEREAS, the United States has historically been a beacon for freedom, human rights and self-determination for people throughout the world; and

WHEREAS, the Baltic States of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia were unilaterally annexed by the Soviet Union; and

WHEREAS, these countries are now engaged in a struggle for freedom and self-determination; and

WHEREAS, Lithuania has declared independence from the Soviet Union:

RESOLVED, that AFT support self-determination and independence for the peoples of the Baltic States.
