SAFETY IN ALL SCHOOLS

WHEREAS, violence in schools is increasing at an alarming rate, including the influence of gangs and increased presence of weapons on campuses; and

WHEREAS, violence in schools is often directed at school employees; and

WHEREAS, safety of students and staff should be of prime importance to all schools:

RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers promote issues of safety in all schools through legislation; and

RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers support training sessions for school employees dealing with safety issues.
