WASHINGTON—AFT President Randi Weingarten on the election of J.B. Pritzker for governor of Illinois:
“J.B. Pritzker is the antidote to years of a Bruce Rauner agenda in Illinois that featured attacks on the voice of working people and cuts to public education funding, threatening the futures of kids across the state. Instead of tax cuts for the wealthy, Pritzker has a plan to pay educators, nurses and other working people respectable wages and to offer Illinoisans a say in how their schools are run.
“Voters in Illinois are clearly fed up with the Trump-Rauner agenda that puts the voice of the 1 percent ahead of everyone else. Tonight, the voters showed up to usher in a new direction for Illinois.”
