AFT Resolution
METRIC SYSTEM
WHEREAS, 90 percent of the world's people live under the metric system and 80 nations use the system or are adopting it; and
WHEREAS, the cost of conversion of U.S. industry to the metric system would be recouped in sales to foreign countries now reluctant to buy U.S. goods measured in non-metric fashion; and
WHEREAS, further delaying the adoption of the metric system will only increase the cost of conversion:
RESOLVED, that this Convention call upon Congress to enact legislation for the gradual conversion of officially recognized weights and measures to the metric system.
