AFT Resolution
TRAINING IN MINORITY GROUP HISTORY FOR TEACHERS
WHEREAS, many new teachers enter schools without knowledge of the culture and history of the minority group contribution to America:
RESOLVED, that the AFT send communiqués to the major teaching-training institutions urging them to include minority group history and culture into existing American history courses and that these courses should be required for all potential teachers; and
RESOLVED, that teachers with no background or training in this area be encouraged to take at least one course in the contributions of minority groups to American history.
