AFT Resolution

FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION

WHEREA, the Federal Communications Commission, through its Fairness Doctrine, is attempting to guarantee freedom of discussion and reply in radio and television broadcasting; and

WHEREAS, such freedom of discussion and reply is essential to the full development of democracy; and

WHEREAS, the Federal Communications Commission is attempting to further racial integration of broadcasting staffs and the improvement of broadcast programs from the standpoint of democratic intergroup relations:

RESOLVED, that this Convention commend the Federal Communications Commission for its Fairness Doctrine and its efforts to achieve staff integration and program improvement; and

RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution be forwarded to the Federal Communications Commission and to the Congress of the United States; and

RESOLVED, that our delegates to the AFL-CIO convention be instructed to use the same action by that body.
