CIVIL RIGHTS AND LIBERTIES
WHEREAS, the American Federation of Teachers has always taken a strong position in support of civil rights and liberties; and
WHEREAS, laws have been enacted by the Congress of the United States to insure the exercise of such rights by all citizens of the United States; and
WHEREAS, enforcement of such laws by federal agencies is at least as essential as their enactment:
RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers express its appreciation for all legislation designed to secure the enjoyment by American citizens of civil rights and liberties under the Constitution of the United States; and
RESOLVED, that we continue to urge all our officers and members to do all in their power to secure the implementation and enforcement of such legislation by courts and federal agencies throughout the United States.
