AFT Resolution

STUDENT STIPENDS

WHEREAS, we believe in equal educational opportunity for all; and

WHEREAS, many high school students from impoverished families are barred from that equality by lack of sufficient clothing and books and by the necessity of working to help support the family:

RESOLVED, that special stipends be made available by federal funds administered by boards of education where necessary to assure that these students be enabled to remain in school and compete on an equal basis with others more fortunate.
