SOUTHEAST ASIA
WHEREAS, the war in Indochina continues despite President Nixon's promise of disengagement; and
WHEREAS, continuing United States military and economic efforts in Southeast Asia consume resources desperately needed to improve the quality of life and to achieve social justice in the United States and throughout the world:
RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers support an immediate ceasefire and withdrawal of all United States Forces from Indochina as soon as reasonable precautions can be taken to insure the physical safety of United States troops; and
RESOLVED, that economic resources presently dedicated to the military effort in Southeast Asia be reassigned to improving education, health, housing and other urgently needed social services.
