AFT Resolution

ON SERVING SMALL LOCALS

WHEREAS, the problems faced by small locals in the AFT differ in many respects from those facing big city locals; and

WHEREAS, a local may be considered small if (1) the district is numerically small or (2) the local represents a minority of school employees within the district:

RESOLVED, that the Executive Council shall establish a fact finding commission on serving these small locals. This commission shall be composed of representatives of small locals geographically representative of the nation and shall be charged with reporting its findings as to ways and means of increasing membership and improving the effectiveness of such locals to the next national Convention.
