AFT Resolution
LEADERSHIP IN COPE
WHEREAS, women trade unionists are as astute and responsible politicians as men unionists:
RESOLVED, that women unionists be encouraged to become active in COPE in leadership roles, and not be segregated into a separate women's division relegated to minor activities; and
RESOLVED, that we encourage election and appointment of women unionists to decision-making roles in local, state and national COPE; and
RESOLVED, that the AFT and its local unions encourage women to participate in COPE, and when appropriate, appoint or elect them to positions in COPE so that the number of women participating in COPE will be substantially increased.
