AFT Resolution
AMERICAN INDIAN RIGHTS
WHEREAS, the American Indian has been denied the full benefits of American citizenship; and
WHEREAS, the American Indian has been denied the right to retain his cultural identity within our pluralistic society; and
WHEREAS, the continued second-class citizenship of the American Indian demeans and debases all of us as Americans:
RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers support those Indian rights movements in this country whose methods of securing justice and equality are in consonance with the principles, policies, and practices of the American Federation of Teachers; and
RESOLVED, that a statement to this effect be made public.
