AFT Resolution

QUALITY OF EDUCATION AND WORKING CONDITIONS

WHEREAS, through the effort of boards of education, educational programs throughout the nation are being reduced and eliminated and class sizes increased; and

WHEREAS, the education of children is being seriously impaired as a result; and

WHEREAS, the related problem of teacher unemployment is best resolved through the following action:

RESOLVED, that the AFT reaffirms its primary commitment to the teaching profession and the improvement of quality education through the expansion of programs for preschoolers, the educationally deprived and otherwise handicapped and disadvantaged, the reduction of class sizes and further through the advancement of the concept of educational opportunity throughout one's lifetime; and

RESOLVED, that AFT extend all possible assistance to all of its locals in achieving these goals and embark on an aggressive national campaign for support of our fellow unionists and all other Americans.
