EROSION OF SUPPORTIVE SERVICES
WHEREAS, school districts have cut back on supportive services in their attempts to deal with budget cuts; and
WHEREAS, supportive services are essential to the success of classroom teachers:
RESOLVED, that the American Federation of Teachers demand that state education departments set standards for the use of supportive services, and discourage school boards from making counter-productive and disproportionate cuts in these essential services from contracting such services to non-school agencies when such services can be provided by the public school system.
