AFT Resolution

STANDING COMMITTEE ON VOCATIONAL EDUCATION

WHEREAS, vocational education is presently undergoing a period of tremendous expansion across the nation which is projected to continue well into the '80s; and

WHEREAS, new vocational education teachers, resulting from this expansion are one of our most important sources for additional membership; and

WHEREAS, federal participation in vocational education is increasingly more intensive and complex, and

WHEREAS, federal funding of vocational education programs is passing the billion-dollar level; and

WHEREAS, AFT already contains an unofficial but organized nationwide committee of vocational-teacher leaders:

RESOLVED, that this AFT Convention urge the Executive Council of the AFT to officially recognize the existing committee as a standing committee; and

RESOLVED, that the AFT recommend to its component State Federations that they also establish standing committees on Vocational Education.
