AFT Resolution

PRACTICAL ARTS AND VOCATIONAL EDUCATION

WHEREAS, vocational education and career education are presently in a period of transition and expansion on the local, state and national level as we approach the 1980's; and

WHEREAS, clear and specific technological information should be communicated to all educational groups concerned with career and vocational education and its effects; and

WHEREAS, greater knowledge of and participation in federal funding policies and congressional bills affecting career and vocational education will better clarify and enhance the AFT position in this area:

RESOLVED, that the AFT Standing Committee on Vocational Education continue collecting all pertinent facts about career and vocational education from existing state standing committees and practicing career and vocational AFT teachers, including those in the CETA, YETA and manpower programs; and

RESOLVED, that such gathering of facts be one of the principal objectives of the Standing Committee on Vocational Education; and

RESOLVED, that AFT policy on career and vocational education be based on and in accordance with such facts.
