AFT Resolution

ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE HUMPHREY-HAWKINS FULL EMPLOYMENT ACT

WHEREAS, unemployment continues at a high rate, especially for young people of racial minorities; and

WHEREAS, the economic and social effects of such unemployment on school age children can be of long duration; and

WHEREAS, the federal administration is allowing the Humphrey-Hawkins Full Employment Act to gather dust, as though there had been no mandate in the 1976 presidential election and in the very passage of this measure:

RESOLVED, that this convention make unmistakably clear to the federal administration that the working people insist on the immediate, vigorous and sustained implementation of the Humphrey-Hawkins Full Employment Act, to achieve all of its stated objectives without delay.
