NATIONAL ENERGY EDUCATION DAY
WHEREAS, the United States has severely depleted its reserves of fossil fuels and has become a major fuel importer; and
WHEREAS, the shortage of fossil fuels will require conservation of present supplies and the conversion to other sources of energy; and
WHEREAS, implementation of such energy conservation and conversion programs will require an informed and analytical public; and
WHEREAS, the teaching professionals of the entire nation have an important part to play in the energy education process; and
WHEREAS, the non-partisan National Energy Education Day, developed by classroom teachers, offers an innovative approach to educating students and the general public on the energy issue:
RESOLVED, that AFT publicize its support for National Energy Education Day in its publications; and
RESOLVED, that AFT work to obtain the endorsement of the AFL-CIO and other labor organizations for the National Energy Education Day.
