AFT Resolution

STANDARDIZED TESTS

WHEREAS, students planning to attend college, graduate school, medical school or law school are required to take some form of standardized tests; and

WHEREAS, data and studies from such tests such as correlations between test scores and grades, ability to graduate, socio-economic status, background characteristics of test subjects or occupational performance, studies or data relating to test validity reliability, cultural bias or equating, have never been made public; and

WHEREAS, the answers to these standardized tests have never been made public:

RESOLVED, that the AFT support legislation which would open these tests to public scrutiny.
