AFT Resolution
ENERGY CONSERVATION AND NUCLEAR POWER
WHEREAS, the recent disastrous accident at the nuclear power plant at Chernobyl in the U.S.S.R. underscores the danger posed by the operation of nuclear power plants to the health and lives of untold millions:
RESOLVED, that the AFT urge that all governments take effective measures to promote energy conservation and the development of solar and other safe sources of energy; and
RESOLVED, that the AFT urge all governments to stop the licensing and construction of nuclear power plants immediately; and
RESOLVED, that AFT urge all governments to shut down existing nuclear power plants as soon as they can be replaced by safer power-generating facilities.
