WASHINGTON—AFT’s Share My Lesson, a free online platform used by nearly 2.2 million education professionals nationwide, was named Best Collaborative Solution for Teachers of 2024 as part of the annual SIIA CODiE Awards, which recognize the companies producing the most innovative education technology products across the country and around the world.
“Over the years, we’ve listened to and learned from members of the SML community. They tell us what they love most about the platform is the collaboration,” said AFT President Randi Weingarten. “Share My Lesson’s purpose is to provide invaluable resources and educational supports to educators, caregivers and students alike. It’s the place parents visit to help their kids, including learning how best to instill the love of reading at home and where educators go to find creative and hands-on activities in their subject area so their students can better access the knowledge, skills and information they need to do well in life. We thank the judges of the CODiE awards for recognizing SML as a leader in accessibility, collaboration and inclusivity.”
Share My Lesson was launched a decade ago to serve as a free, one-stop destination for high-quality, educator-vetted materials curated for teachers, higher education faculty, food service personnel, paraprofessionals, custodians, bus drivers, school secretaries, specialized instructional support personnel, and school staff. The website contains more than 400,000 resource collections and lessons tailored to meet the needs of its 2.2 million members; it also offers ways to communicate with others across the country in unique community spaces making it a leader in the industry.
“This award is a testament to the power of community and collaboration in education,” said Kelly Booz, director of Share My Lesson. “We are incredibly honored to be recognized for our efforts in creating a platform that brings educators together, fostering a space where they can share resources, support each other, and ultimately enrich the educational experience for students across the nation. We will continue to innovate and be there when people need us, whether it’s to find a new idea or lesson to teach, or when they are looking for ways to teach tough news topics. This recognition motivates us to keep enhancing our platform to meet the evolving needs of educators everywhere.”
In presenting this year’s awards, SIIA President Chris Mohr said, “The winners of the 2024 Education Technology CODiE Awards represent the pinnacle of creativity and excellence in providing products and services that connect diverse learners with educational resources and instructors. We are thrilled to honor this year's recipients—the elite in their field—who offer solutions to crucial challenges in education today, ranging from accessibility and fairness to customized and adaptive learning experiences.”
