Jaime L. Ciffone
AFT Vice President
Jaime L. Ciffone is executive vice president of New York State United Teachers, where she coordinates the union’s Research and Educational Services and the Education & Learning Trust, NYSUT’s professional development arm.
A self-proclaimed lifelong learner, Ciffone is a graduate of the University of Scranton, the College of New Rochelle and the College of St. Rose, and holds licenses and certificates in elementary education, literacy and school leadership.
Her 22-year education career includes 10 years as a classroom teacher of English language learners and six years as a school-based literacy/instructional coach. In 2011, Ciffone transitioned to serve as a school-based instructional coach for the United Federation of Teachers’ Teacher Center. In that role, she supported teachers and paraprofessionals through a variety of professional learning opportunities. Since 2017, she has facilitated and coordinated the AFT Center for School Improvement Conference, supporting members and their teams nationwide.
Throughout her career, Ciffone has been a respected union advocate for all members, with a particular passion for workplace safety and working conditions conducive to learning.
Ciffone and her partner Matt enjoy spending time with their energetic French bulldog, Lexi.
