General: What does Paul Ryan on the Republican ticket mean for your family, your job and your community?

I am hoping that the Romney/Ryan ticket can finally get this nation on the right track of fiscal responsibility. We are standing at the edge of a fiscal cliff and we have only one chance to keep from falling off the edge. Countless nations in history have fallen off this cliff because they were led by monarchs and dictators who cared for little other than their own pleasures and power. Thank God that we live in a nation where we can elect leaders who will make these difficult but necessary choices. I only pray that Americans will stand up as previous generations have done and make the right decision. The Romney/Ryan ticket will do the job.

Paul Ryan further defines and clarifies the Republican ticket. He's shown us his limited perception of the issues that daily affect our working families, and his simplistic ideas to remove supports for hard-working people while the economy is still recovering. He seems to believe middle-class Americans have no dignity or pride in their work if they unite voices to assure fair and safe conditions. He shows disregard for the spirit of working together to build communities. It means that when my students learn creative, acknowledging, collaboration skills, they will be labeled as lazy, irresponsible, non-individuals. That's pretty demoralizing.

I hope that Paul Ryan on the ticket means that we will get a president who works much much harder to get the federal defecit under control. I hope that Paul Ryan on the ticket will encourage more people to vote out Obamah because his methods of management have not been succesful. I hope Paul Ryan on the ticket means that my family will have more opportunities to advance their careers that they have worked so hard for. I hope that my community will be able to reduce the number of underemployeed and needy. I hope that we will stem the additude that the government should take care of all of our financial problems.

The Romney/Ryan ticket, to me, means fiscal responsibility -finally, at the national level! Their plan for Medicare and Social Security is a sensible approach to the problems we face in those programs. Making people accountable is a good thing in my opinion.

I think the choice was a poor one if the ticket expected to gain votes from middle class America. As a retired teacher, I have seen my pension frozen while tax cuts are going to be available to certain income levels while Americans who are working hard to make ends meet will see none of that. The "fix" will be if a majority of Congress can foresee what the middle class is up against. That does not fall within the parameters of the Republican party.

I am looking forward to elected officials who know how to balance budgets and stand up for all americans without dividing them. Romney is a successfull businessman and knows how the process of obtaining licenses, insurance costs for employees, and spending only what comes in. Also partnered with a man who can speak from his heart, not a teleprompter, has a degree and proven record of economic successes and knows how to budget with priorities = not by special interests. Yes, I am ready for a different hope & change than our current situation.

It means the Republicans are not serious about reforming Medicare and Social Security, because if they were serious, Romney would not have chosen Ryan as his running mate. Ryan's plan will end Medicare as we know it and privatize Social Security. THAT'S NOT REFORM! My parents rely on Medicare and Social Security and Ryans plan would jeapordize their health to a degree. People's health should never be jeopardized. Many people in my community would be affected because I live in an area where the majority are either poor or middle class working Americans. Ryan's plan does nothing to help my family nor my community.

I love the ticket; We must get America back to our basic rights and route to free America. I am in support of Romney and Ryan. My picture is on the right, just where we all need to be. God bless America and bring her back to us law abiding citizens.

I was listening to Obama campaign say that Romney/Ryan will raise my taxes $2000. Obama/Patrick have raised my health care costs by about $3000 by taking our negotiating rights away, not to mention our new evaluation system and national core standards . All a complete waste of time, just a repackage of what we already do, on our own time. Obama has been no friend to teachers.

I am getting ready to retire within the next Presidential term, and his stand on Medicare, Social Security and other programs that will affect my retirement are on his agenda to do major cutting. Without a doubt, he is not the candidate to endorse especially if you are not getting ready to retire in the next four years, because those people who will suffer the "ax" the most.

In 2009, Paul Ryan stated that Ayn Rand, who is an atheist, was the reason he got into public office and that she shaped his values. MSNBC has the complete video. Please research this & let the world see the real Paul Ryan. Facts vs. Fiction? His philosophy means that his Plan equates to death for the seniors, women, children, blacks, latinos, catholics, and other ethnic groups! It means Ryan would destroy the community & democracy as it stands while he, the corporations, and the top 1% get richer. It means his plan would cause castastrophic harm to the community & economy due to him lacking both foreign and domestic policy experience..

Paul Ryan on the Republican ticket increases the probability that Romney will win the election and OBAMA WILL BE OUT. Hooray! For the first time in my life (and possibly the last) I will vote Republican for good of my family & the USA. Obama has been the most destructive president that I can remember. He is a gifted salesman, and too many gullible voters are eager to buy his snake oil. It is true that he has inherited a mess, but he has made it much messier, while always pretending to have done the opposite. He lies, blames others for his incompetence, and is running the dirtiest, most unethical campaign immaginable. Vote Romney -- Ryan

This is bad news for public employees everywhere - I applaud those whose unions are strong and attain great benefits - but public employees I know hardly sit in the lap of luxury!

While RACING TO THE TOP, I have seen teachers placed in an evaluation system that Medical professionals would fail. I cannot support another 4 long years with Mr Obama and Arnie Duncan. When was the last time you saw a Vice President (especially the current one) really effect change in government. Don't be afraid of the unknown,BE AFRAID of the known.

Tremendous losses in separation of church and state, healthcare for women and healthcare and financial support for the elderly; higher taxes for middle class; more benefits to wealthy and corporations. Ryan's ideologies are right wing extreme. His personhood view of a fertilized embryo is frightening. Listen to August 13 democracy now.org enlightening discussion on Paul Ryan.

America has to stop blaming the current president for the failing economy. Truth is Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney and the rest of the republicans have fought to stop everything positive this president has put on the table to help the American people. Sadly they have even fought against issues they supported and sought passage on. America, we need President Obama and Vice President Biden back in the White House, but we also need a Body of suppporters who have the American intrest at the heart of their focus.

We need more people in Washington that understand the importance of living on a budget. Our country can not continue to spend borrowed money - cuts must be made somewhere. Ryan went to public schools and is a part of the middle class, which gives me hope that he will bring some realistic goals and ideals to the Executive Branch.

Due to the "Pension Offset" ruling my husband's SS benefits were severely reduced though he paid in to SS as a FT employee for 17 yrs, and as a PT employee for about 20 yrs, because he was a Municipal employee for 30 yrs. and is receiving his Municipal pension. We are concerned about Romney/Ryan winning in November and maybe losing or seeing a reduction of the remainder of his SS per year? As retirees the thought of losing any of our Medicare or SS is more than frightening. The Bush yrs. left us with a SS freeze for 2 yrs. Romney/Ryan care about the wealthy 1% only. We need Obama/Biden for 4 more years. Vote straight Democratic in November!

Ryan on the ticket is both a horror and a delight--he makes the issues so clear! So if he's elected, the consequences will be deadly, for all of us. The university I work at, UCLA, will be in trouble, and have to rely increasingly on private funds, becoming less and less a state institution. I'm hoping that his inclusion on the Republican ticket will clarify things for voters--if we elect this pair, we really will be shooting ourselves in the foot. Let's hope we're sane enough, as a group, not to do that.

Paul Ryan & Romney would return us to another depression worse than the last . We need Mr. Obama to be able to iniate a lasting budget that would benefit all Americans not just the uppper 2 per cent . We would be crazy to elect Romnney & Ryan. The only winners would be the rich. While we would coninue to be losers especially the middle class & women. Thanks

Seeing the GOP constituency elected to the White House this year would signify the end of the moral & spiritual freedom that we, as Americans, have come to expect, accept & cherish. It also means that most of us would be on our way to living as second, if not third, world citizens. I feel an immense grief that so many American citizens currently fail to realize these things.

Pres. Obama still has to state what his plans are to grow our economy; how he is going to actually work with Congress this time around? Its still going to be a Republican Congress. He can not win this election on being the least of 2 evils. I love the man, however I think he has done a better job with foreign affairs then with domestic. It will be a tight race and he needs to give us more than slogans. He needs to place out there, on the ground reality plans of how to get us out of debt and have small businesses trust the federal government. Taxing the rich is just one item of a very complex issue. Obama needs to step up so he can win.

I am newly retired and I feel that this ticket is the worst ticket for our country. They seem to believe that the wealthy will share their wealth with the rest of the nation and that will stabilize the country. That's what's wrong now. They want to eliminate medicare and healthcare for those that are less fortunate. This is not right. Most of us have worked and put money into Social Security and Medicare all our lives and we deserve to get something back. We do not have the kinds of medical coverage that the members of Congress have and we don't get the type of pensions that they receive for life.
