Why do you all insist on balancing the budget on the backs of the elderly and the disabled who have no way to improve their financial situations; and the poor who need education, counseling, and encouragement to rise up out of their situation; and the middle class who got the USA to their high point once upon a time; instead of having the rich pay their FAIR SHARE rather than hand everything over to the rich and thinking that will create job??? It hasn't worked yet!!!!!

To Mitt Romney; Why did you do double taxation when you were governor of Massachusetts? You balanced the state budget by requiring a capital gains tax for STATE residents who sold their homes+was already a FED Cap gains! A working mother-struggling+all my savings in my farm. I raised son-worked 3 jobs put myself thru nursing school worked excessive overtime as a nurse. For a low price,I was forced to sell my home of 30yrs adue to unfair, unscientific, illogical+unfair allocation of sewer resources in my MAtown where longtime residents who had failing systems+ paid for sewer capacity were denied access+capacity was given to developers.

This is a country which prides itself on its diversity. As a schoolteacher in the public school I work with students from all different backgrounds, cultures and religions. I teach my students to be proud of their own backgrounds and to respect others. It is absolutely essential to the future of this country that people with different opinions and from different backgrounds be able to work together respectfully. How have you demonstrated cultural tolerance in the past and as a political leader, how will you model a working relationship and respect for people of different backgrounds and different faiths? Do you agree that it is important

I have heard so many answers to the question of how you plan to improve the economy, but none has provided specifics that actually help close the deficit. Would you please answer seriously the question of what you would be willing to cut in order to keep taxes low AND reduce the deficit?

Why do you claim to be the best candidate to create jobs in America when in the same breath you say that you will drastically cut government spending? Do you understand that means actually cutting jobs. Isn't that hypocritical?

I worked at a hospital and paid into social security. I now work at a school district and pay into TRS. If I retire from the school district I will only get a percentage of my social security benefit. Will you fix this so that people who have paid into both can get the full benefit they are entitled to?

Since you say that you represent a political party that desires less government control and less government, do you really mean less Federal government and more State government control over issues of public education and women's health care, is that kind of a "bait and switch" tactic or is it really misinformation that most Americans receive from your party's platform?

Is there any possibility that changes can be made in the Social Security Windfall Elimination Provision in order to help retired widowed spouses????? Even SOME SS benefit would make a tremendous difference in the lives of many elderly folks who have been left behind by a spouse who paid SS all their lives!!!!!!!!!! I don't think TOTAL exclusion of benefits from gov. pension earners is right!! Shame!!!

The issue of a need for living-wage jobs has been among the top priorities of Americans for a number of years, including during previous presidential administrations. Consequently, by now you must have a comprehensive plan in mind for addressing this working-class crisis. If you were elected president, what SPECIFIC steps would YOU take to ensure living-wage jobs for working class Americans in the first term?--What specific legislation, what changes or additions to federal services, policies, or any other actions would you take? And what specific evidence leads you to believe they would be effective?

QUESTION: Would you force members of congress to reveal how much money they receive in all forms from big oil? It seems to me these companies are raping the American public. They cite bogus reasons to raise prices and then declare record quarterly profits. In the meantime, consumers feel the pinch not only when they fill up their gas tank or home heating oil tank, but when they go to the supermarket to purchase items that have to be trucked in to stores. Someone has got to take a stand against these companies who have been ri[pping off Americans since Hurricane Katrina.

I am a school teacher in Texas. If I worked in any other profession or none at all I would be eligible to claim Social Security on my record or on my husband of 18 years. But Texas school teachers have their SS offset. What will you do to make this equitable?
