Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellowship Program—The Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellowship Program offers current public or private elementary and secondary mathematics, technology and science classroom teachers with demonstrated excellence in teaching an opportunity to serve in the national public policy arena. Fellows provide practical insight in establishing and operating education programs. Fellowships increase understanding, communication and cooperation between legislative and executive branches and the science, mathematics, and technology education communities.

Columbia University Summer Research Program for Secondary School Science Teachers—This program is designed to allow secondary school science teachers the opportunity to participate in scientific research being conducted by Columbia University Faculty. Teachers participate in the program for two summers. Participants will receive a stipend of $6,000, a modem or network card for a computer at the teacher's school, $1,000 each summer to purchase classroom items, and a chance to go to a professional conference. This program is limited to New York Metropolitan teachers.

Cornell Center for Materials Research: Research Experience for Teachers—This is a six-week summer science program for middle and high school teachers that aims to provide teachers with research experience, computer skills training, classroom-ready science lessons, and an opportunity to work on existing science curriculum. www.ccmr.cornell.edu/education/ret/index.html

The Earthwatch Institute Educator Fellowship offers educators opportunities to participate in two-week summer expeditions throughout the world. Volunteers work alongside professional researchers and join a team of diverse volunteers. Elementary, middle and high school educators and administrators are eligible.

The Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Teacher Program provides U.S. citizens and teachers of grades one to 12 with the opportunity to participate in three-week study visits to Japan and to return home with a follow-on plan designed to introduce Japanese culture to American students. The FMF Program, which is fully funded by the Japanese government, aims to increase understanding between Japan and the United States and is intended to extend far beyond the educators who participate. FMF alumni agree to share what they have learned about Japan with their students, colleagues and community members upon returning to the United States.

The Fulbright Teacher and Administrator Exchange Program is open to educators at the elementary, secondary and two-year college levels. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, it enables U.S. teachers to exchange teaching positions with educators in more than 30 countries. Administrators can participate in six-week shadowing experiences in some countries.

The Fund for Teachers is a nonprofit organization that provides funds for teacher sabbaticals and other professional and personal growth opportunities. K-12 teachers or teams of teachers are eligible. Applicants must have at least three years of teaching experience and spend at least 50 percent of the day in a classroom.

NOAA's Office of Marine and Aviation Operations Teacher At Sea Program—This program provides kindergarten through college-level teachers with an opportunity to enrich their classroom curricula with a depth of understanding made possible by living and working side by side, day and night, with those who contribute to the world's body of oceanic and atmospheric scientific knowledge. Participants will cruise aboard one of NOAA's 19 ships for a duration of one week to one month. All necessary costs will be reimbursed by the program.

The Ross Program for Teachers—Offered by Ohio State University, this program provides high school math teachers with an opportunity to increase their knowledge in mathematics and learn new methods of problem solving that will service them as educators. The Ross Program involves a three-week session during the summer, and participating teachers receive a stipend of $1,000. Preference will be giving to Ohio teachers. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Smithsonian National Zoo Conservation and Research Center Education Teacher Fellowship—During this eight- to 12-week summer fellowship, awardees will have the opportunity to work with CRC education staff to develop and implement science education programs for K-12 teachers and students. Activities range from assisting with summer training workshops, leading outreach programs, editing activities and lesson plans and conducting field work for the Biodiversity Monitoring Program. Housing is provided at the CRC campus in Virginia.

Techs4Schools—Since 1995, privately funded Tech Corps has provided no-cost assistance to help schools connected to the Internet maintain their technology systems. Last year, Compaq Computer Corporation provided $500,000 to expand Tech Corps' activities through the Techs4Schools Online Mentoring Program, which provides free, online volunteer assistance to educators and school technology coordinators. http://www.techcorps.org/

Toyota International Teacher Program—Toyota Motor Sales, USA Inc. seeks to award educators who encourage environmental stewardship and cross-cultural sharing of teaching techniques and practices. Eligible applicants are secondary school educators of all subjects. Selected educators will attend a 10-day, fully funded study program to the Galapagos Islands and will receive a $500 stipend. Twenty teachers will be chosen.

United States Holocaust Museum Teacher Fellowship Program—This program is designed for secondary school teachers in grades seven through twelve who have demonstrated a significant commitment to Holocaust education. This fellowship consists of an all-expenses-paid, five-day session in the summer with a follow-up session at a later date. Following the program, teachers should create and implement an outreach program in Holocaust education.
