AFT Statement on Latest Proposal to Avert Fiscal Cliff
Washington-Statement of American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten on the latest proposal to avert the fiscal cliff.
"We're glad that President Obama continues to fight to protect tax cuts for 98 percent of Americans and demand the wealthiest among us pay their fair share. We understand the talks are continuing. We are concerned about potential cuts to the Social Security benefits our seniors have earned after a lifetime of hard work, and cuts to education that would impact kids who, with a lifetime ahead of them, deserve our investment."
