As the number of confirmed H1N1 influenza cases grows, the AFT continues to monitor what is happening in schools and other institutions where our members work.

The Centers for Disease Control has revised its recommendations on school closings as of May 5; read details on the CDC Web site for school closures.

Please check the AFT fact sheet on the H1N1 influenza for guidelines on following good hygiene and other preventive measures. School districts also are advised to abide by the guidance of local health departments on steps to investigate suspect cases in schools.

The CDC Web site is a good source for the latest updates on the H1N1 influenza.
