Local Union Paid Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D)

    Print

Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) locals may choose one of the five benefit levels: $5,000, $10,000, $15,000, $20,000 or $25,000, at the rates listed below. Not every local union participates in this national program!

The coverage is designed to pay benefits to insured members from a participating local that die as a result of an accident or who suffer the loss of a hand, leg or similar serious injury. Benefits are paid directly to the member. In the case of accidental death, benefits are paid to the member’s beneficiary (the beneficiary card should be on file at the local). To find out the level of coverage offered by your local or to order beneficiary cards, call AFT + at 800/238-1133, ext. 8643.

  • Five cents per member per month for $5,000 benefit.

  • Ten cents per member per month for $10,000 benefit.

  • Fifteen cents per member per month for $15,000 benefit.

  • Twenty cents per member per month for $20,000 benefit.

  • Twenty-five cents per member per month for $25,000 benefit.

Note: New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) members have insurance plans through NYSUT. To obtain information about NYSUT insurance plans, call 800/626-8101.

For more information, call 800/238-1133, ext. 8643.

No union dues are used to provide these benefits.
