The AFT’s Retiree Department provides resources and assistance to 165,000 retired members and 85 state and local retiree chapters. Duties for interns include:
- helping design and conduct telephone surveys of retiree chapter leaders to update profiles of their chapters and determine new areas of service;
- providing Web site content and links to other retiree/senior organizations,
- attending meetings and conferences of other retiree/senior organizations; and
- assisting in production of semi-monthly electronic newsletter.
Prospective interns must be able to work independently in a variety of settings and have solid writing and communications skills. Good interpersonal skills are also a must.
